Re: Norovirus
I had this 2 days before I done the Normandy coach tour with Leger travel back in July... never shat so much fluid out of my backside in my life... ended up falling asleep on the bog as shat the bed TWICE .... the vomit was not too bad I could manage that but it was the constant having to run for the bog on legs made of glass that was a mare... managed to get most of it out of my system and started a course of immodium the night before the trip and would see what I was like in the morn... survived the trip just but hardly ate or drunk a thing the 3 days we was out there... nice way to lose half a stone (which I have still kept off) which is the nice feature of it all !!

Re: Norovirus
Unless essential go out do not Imodium yourself. Just don't eat for 24 hours and drink ORS Oral re-hydration system basically sugar and salt that stop you dehydrating.
I used drink it every day when I worked in Qatar during the humid/Summer season

Re: Norovirus
Whatever you do don't take imodium!!!

You want that germ out and imodium will keep it in.

Best thing is nurofen and diorolyte to replace lost fluid.

Re: Norovirus
Went out for lunch in town today. Nipped to the bathroom at about 1pm and what felt like half of Niagra Falls fell out my arse.

Have been at least 12 times in the following 7 hours and it's showing no signs of abating. Haven't eaten or drunk anything since, so I've got no idea where all this fluid is coming from. Fortunately it's only coming out 1 end and I actually feel reasonably well otherwise. Is this the NOROVIRUS?

By the way. Lemon squash isn't too bad making the return journey.

The worst thing to yak up is a hot curry.

Had gastroenteritis and swine flu and food poisoning too.

None nice.

Re: Norovirus
Had it the year before last.

Worst projectile vomit occurred when I was stood at the top of a stepped terrace, by a river. Wasn't deliberate, nothing you can do about it, but must've made quite a sight.

My mrs suggested me getting a taxi home. Would still be paying off the fouling charges now.

Re: Norovirus
Having also had salmonella I can confirm it is just as bad but not as dangerous. I was in hospital 2 days with slamonella from under cooked chicken and it only took a small drumstick to do the damage

Re: Norovirus
I can confirm that the nausea, tiredness, aching & general debilitation are worse than the dribbling from both ends

Not sure you can get the same virus more than once, but it can often seem to go away & come back apparently. Perhaps like a lot of viruses it might mutate?

Re: Norovirus
Similar to Gastroenteritis although more severe and I have had Gastro a few times - the last time was en route back to London from Tenerife - spent most of the flight in the bog and then puking in the bogs at Gatwick

Re: Norovirus
Anyone had it more than once? Someone said you then build a resistance to one strain but there are several strains.
